Mrs. Anderson has been teaching since 1989. She started in Phoenix Arizona, teaching P.E., then 6th grade. Then she moved to Oregon with her husband and daughter. She started teaching a 4/5 blend at the old Phil Lewis, now the site of Lowes. Then she traveled to CFT for the next 25 years, teaching 1st, 3rd, 4/5 and 5th. She moved to Durham last year into a 5th grade position. She moved because Durham needed another teacher and she was willing to make the change for a year. The move was extremely hard, since she felt CFT was her true school family and she had intentions of moving back after a year, but it didn't take long for her to realize Durham was her new family as they welcomed her with such warmth and open arms. She now wears blue, considers herself a Roadrunner and not a Wildcat and has a heart for the Durham community. Her new adventure is a dream she has had since she was a young child, and that is to breed her favorite two dogs...a Mountain Bernese with a Toy Poodle. She has been doing research for several years, and last year this dream became a reality when she purchased two healthy Bernedoodles from east coast breeders. Her first litter will be due this summer or fall depending on her girl's cycle. Mrs. Anderson has raised two driven kids. Her daughter is an OB Charge Nurse in Medford and her son is in his second year at OSU, working toward his doctrine in Pharmacy. Mrs. Anderson knows the toughest job is parenting and knows first hand how the love and worry for your child never stops, no matter their age. Mrs. Anderson's husband is a software engineer and feeds Mrs. Anderson a lot of new information on what is coming down the pike from high tech companies such as Intel, Google, etc. He also keeps her thinking on stocks since he loves the stock market. This is why Mrs. Anderson has had her students do the Stock Market game for the past 3 years and has had her students come in first place each year for their division. Finally, Mrs. Anderson is very competitive. She wants all her students to be the best they can be and will push them to reach a potential she feels they are capable of. Her competitive nature shines when she goes to practice 3 days a week on the Willamette with Wasabi Soar, her Dragon Boat Competitive team.
